Apple has rolled out a crucial update for iPhone users to address an issue hindering wireless charging on some devices. The glitch has led affected users to rely solely on MagSafe wireless charging. While Apple notes that only a small percentage of users are impacted, it is recommended for all users to ensure their devices are updated.
The update is particularly necessary for iPhone 17 models, including the Pro and Pro Max versions, as well as the iPhone Air. Apple clarified that the update resolves an issue preventing wired charging on these models when the battery is nearly drained.
To update the device, users can navigate to Settings, then General, and select Software Update. The update, labeled iOS 26.5.1, is approximately 13.6GB in size, so a stable Wi-Fi connection or unlimited mobile data is advised.
Looking ahead, Apple is gearing up for its annual WWDC Developers Conference starting on June 8, where the launch of iOS 27 is anticipated. This update is expected to introduce new features and enhance the devices’ AI capabilities, making them smarter.
Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott, expressed excitement for the upcoming event, highlighting the community’s collaboration and innovation. Mirror Online will provide live updates from the WWDC event, commencing at 6pm BST.
