Stellantis, the company that owns Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of approximately 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt problem. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, where the second-row center or driver-side seat belt anchor may not have been correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis has acknowledged one injury potentially linked to this recall, although no fatalities have been reported.
The recall impacts 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in regions outside of North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at authorized dealerships. During these inspections, dealers will assess the second-row center and driver seat belt anchor and secure them properly to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
