A golfer from Saskatchewan achieved his first hole-in-one and secured a victory at the National Special Olympics event. Taylor Carter, residing in Regina, began participating in the Special Olympics in 2013, having started playing golf at the age of four. The memorable hole-in-one occurred at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club on a Friday. Carter expressed his disbelief and emotional reaction when reflecting on the achievement, emphasizing the impact of watching the video of the moment.

Taylor’s nephew, Ashton Carter, served as his caddy during the tournament. The significant shot took place on the 135-yard 16th hole, where Taylor confidently utilized a nine-iron. The excitement escalated as Taylor’s brother confirmed the hole-in-one and the family erupted in celebration. The heartwarming scene was captured on video, showcasing the tight bond between Taylor and his best friend Jason, who had traveled to support him.

Despite the initial shock and adrenaline rush, Taylor remained composed to finish the competition strongly. With a total score of 162 over three rounds, he clinched the gold medal in his division by a narrow margin. Ashton described the experience as remarkable, highlighting the confidence and authenticity displayed by all athletes at the event. Taylor expressed gratitude towards his support system and expressed his intention to continue practicing and celebrating with loved ones before potentially embarking on future competitions.
