Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to travel to Canada next week, as per insiders who shared the information with Radio-Canada. The upcoming visit, initially disclosed by the Globe and Mail, has been verified by two separate sources. According to these sources, Zelenskyy’s trip to Canada may involve two different stops.
Zelenskyy’s previous visit to Canada took place in December, during which he held discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax before proceeding to the U.S. for talks with President Donald Trump regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict resolution. The Prime Minister’s Office has chosen not to provide any comments on the anticipated visit.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that several nations, including the U.S. and China, are prepared to aid in facilitating a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Putin emphasized that ultimately, the resolution of the conflict lies in the hands of the involved parties – Russia and Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to all those contributing to the peace process and expressed optimism about the possibility of a resolution.
In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed his belief in a renewed momentum in peace efforts, with increased political and diplomatic engagements across various global capitals. Sybiha refrained from providing further details, advising reporters to stay updated with the latest developments. Following over four years of Europe’s most lethal conflict since World War II, both sides rarely express optimism about peace prospects. Their last meeting for U.S.-mediated discussions took place in February.
