Major UK supermarkets slash Easter vegetables to just 8p – full list of all discounts

Published:

Major supermarket chains are slashing the price of Easter Sunday essentials to as low as 8p to draw in shoppers ahead of the Bank holiday weekend.

Over Easter – similarly to Christmas – it is tradition in the UK to sit down for a Sunday Roast and every year supermarkets cut the cost of traditional roast dinner veg. Asda and Morrisons are the latest major supermarkets to announce price cuts, following Aldi, Lidl, and Sainsbury’s previously.

From April 14 until Sunday, April 20, Morrisons shoppers can get carrots, parsnips, and a whole swede for just 8p if you have a Morrisons Morecare. Alongside this, shoppers can get a 2kg bag of Morrisons Best potatoes for £1.10 – instead of £2.30. You do not need a Morecard to get this offer. You can sign up for a Morrisons More card through the App.

Asda announced that their price cuts would be across its broccoli, carrots, white potatoes, and parsnips – all costing 8p. The Rollback offer will run from April 15 until Monday, April 21. This offer comes as part of the supermarket’s relaunched Rollback initiative, so you do not need to be a loyalty member to get it.

The first to announce the price cut was Lidl, which is cutting vegetable prices to 15p from April 15 as part of its “Pick of the Week” deals. The offer includes carrots, white Potatoes, green beans, swede, parsnips, and spring onions. Shortly after Lidl’s announcement, Aldi also joined in, offering its “Super Six” veggies for between 34% and 89% off.

Aldi’s deal also runs from April 15 and covers white potatoes, carrots, broccoli, spring onions, and loose garlic. It also covers cucumber however, this is not priced at 15p but at 89p instead.

Sainsbury’s then jumped onto the price battle bandwagon, confirming it will be offering Easter dinner essentials for 15p from April 16 – as well as 50% off selected Easter mains available now.

Shoppers can pick up the deal from April 16 right up until April 20 and just like Lidl’s offer, Sainsbury’s price cuts cover white potatoes, parsnips, swedes and carrots. However, there is one catch with Sainsbury’s.

To get the discounts you will need to be a Nectar Card member. If you are not a Nectar Card member, you can register for free by downloading the Nectar App on your smartphone. It’s important to note that you do not need to be part of a loyalty scheme to get discounts at both Aldi and Lidl.

Like with all offers, they will only be available while stocks last so you may want to get down earlier rather than later to make sure you bag the bargains.
