Colleagues of Kate Garraway teased that they don’t know themselves if she will compete on the celebrity version of the Traitors. The presenter is among the rumoured line-up for the upcoming spin-off of the show.
Filming is already underway for the BBC show – which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman – in Scotland and the apparent line-up was reported recently ahead of the show being broadcast. It’s said to include presenter Kate, 57, alongside more than a dozen other celebrity contestants.
The show was discussed on Good Morning Britain today whilst Kate was absent, with colleagues Richard Madeley, 68, and Susanna Reid, 54, at the helm instead. Kate typically fronts the ITV show on alternate Thursdays and Fridays.
Melvin Odoom, 44, was invited onto GMB this morning to discuss the upcoming celebrity version of the Traitors. Whilst discussing the potential line-up, it was mentioned that their colleague Kate has been linked to the show recently.
Suggesting that they were unaware if it was true, Richard teased that he would text Kate and try to find out if she is taking part in the show, which divides players into Traitors and Faithfuls. Susanna suggested that she wouldn’t confirm or deny.
Susanna said: “She’ll make an excellent Traitor if we can’t even get hold of her.” Melvin responded: “Very true.” He went on to encourage the co-hosts to reach out to Kate live on air.
Melvin said: “I think you guys need to send her a message right now.” Richard picked up his phone and said: “I’ll do it right now.” Susanna teased: “She’ll neither confirm nor deny, I’m sure.” Melvin reacted: “Let’s do it anyway.” Richard said: “I’ll do it right now. You carry on, I’ll do it!”
The BBC confirmed that it had commissioned a star-studded version of the Traitors, which launched in 2022, last year. There has been much speculation over the potential line-up for the spin-off since the news was announced.
Kate is among the numerous celebrities in the rumoured line-up for the show. Singer Charlotte Church, comedian Bob Mortimer, EastEnders star Tameka Empson and actor Celia Imrie are also among the rumoured names.
A source told the Mirror: “There will be a huge mix of personalities – and ego sizes. Seeing how it all works out is going to be fascinating. The team making the show are expecting it to be quite different to the regular version because the celebrities will be less motivated by the prize fund but care far more about how they come across.
“It will be really interesting to see how the gameplay compares, along with which tactics they employ. Hopefully one thing that will remain the same is that it will be a lot of fun to watch.”
Amid speculation over the line-up earlier this year, a spokesperson for the Traitors previously said: “The Traitors is a game that includes lies and deception, thus it would be foolhardy for any Faithful to speculate before the game has begun.”
