New UK weather maps show where Brits will experience six days of non-stop heat

Published:

Parts of the UK are set to experience six days of non-stop heat – but a few unlucky areas could miss out.

New maps from forecaster Netweather show an area of warmer air beginning to sweep across the country as early as the end of this week, bringing temperatures in the high teens and low 20s to multiple regions. This new weather phase is set to last six days, from Sunday 27 April to Friday 2 May. On Sunday, conditions will be warmest for those in England, with all but the northwest and southwest experiencing pleasant temperatures ranging between 16C and 18C.

Conditions will be noticeably cooler in the northwest, southwest, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, where the mercury will hover between 11C and 15C. The hottest day will come on Wednesday, when temperatures reach 21C in Liverpool and the northwest.

Areas to the far north and south will also see summer-like daytime highs of 20C, including Inverness, Exeter, Bournemouth, and Portsmouth. Temperatures will sit between 17C and 19C across the rest of Britain, other than the east coast and central Scotland, where it will be around 15C.

In the meantime, a mixed picture with some cooler weather is expected before the weekend. Last night, Clare Nasir, a meteorologist from the Met Office, said in her latest forecast: “High pressure will influence our weather through tomorrow [Thursday], so some fine conditions before more cloud and rain moves in as we head towards Friday.

“Towards the west, this weather front will bring some persistent and maybe heavy rain to Northern Ireland as it makes inroads eastwards through Friday and into Saturday – before things slowly warm up, away from the far north and northwest of Scotland. For the time being, the few showers lurking out there will tend to fade away, so we will see some clearer skies.

“There’s a weak weather front across the north of Scotland giving the odd spot or two of rain, a bit of a breeze here, and more cloud may just drift across the North Sea across Eastern counties.

“Clearer skies elsewhere, and even mist and fog patches as we enter the day on Thursday.”

Despite spring now being well underway, morning temperatures are also expected to stay cool over the next couple of days, with highs of just 4C in some parts of Scotland and only 6C in some central parts of England.

A dull start in eastern and central areas, with perhaps some patchy drizzle. Bright spells in the west will spread eastwards throughout the day. Feeling warm in the west.

A dry start for many on Friday, but rain continues to slowly spread eastwards, bringing rain or showers more widely on Saturday. Drier and warmer in the south on Sunday.
