GMB issues heartfelt support to Big Brother’s Emma Willis after undergoing secret heart surgery

Published:

Good Morning Britain didn’t hesitate to send their best wishes to Emma Willis after she opened up about her recent health scare.

The former Big Brother host, 48, disclosed that she had undergone a secret heart operation following an unexpected diagnosis.

Emma shared with her followers that she was “blissfully unaware” of having a congenital heart defect until recently. On the GMB episode aired on Thursday (April 24), Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh were joined by entertainment correspondent Melvin Odoom, who expressed the show’s heartfelt wishes for Emma’s speedy recovery.

Melvin began: “Previous Celebrity Big Brother host Emma Willis actually revealed that she had secret heart surgery. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, ‘A few weeks ago I had key hole heart surgery and it turns out that I’ve been pottering around for 48 years blissfully unaware she had a hole in my heart.'”

He went on: “Emma thanked the NHS staff who looked after her and her husband Matt Willis, who was constantly by her side.”

In a warm gesture, Melvin added: “Emma, if you’re watching this, we love you girl. Get well soon from everyone here at Good Morning Britain.”

He then affectionately blew a kiss towards the camera, saying: “Catch that.” Emma took to her Instagram on Wednesday (April 23) to post several pictures from the hospital post-surgery.

Keyhole heart surgery is a less invasive procedure than traditional open-heart surgery, involving small cuts in the chest rather than opening the breastbone, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The surgeon can reach the heart through small incisions, offering a less invasive method with reduced complications and quicker recovery.

In an extensive thank you note shared online, Emma expressed her gratitude towards her spouse, Matt, and the Royal Brompton Hospital team for their care.

Celebrities and fans alike swarmed the comments with well-wishes as I’m a Celebrity champ Giovanna Fletcher cheered: “Love you treacle! ! ! Strongest of hearts – even when that hole was there! ! Imagine the strength of your heart now these legends have worked on it!”

Jools Oliver sent heartfelt vibes, stating: “Sending loads of love so glad all is ok I too am under the care of Dr Alex Lyons he is brilliant, so lovely, huge hugs.”

Popular singer Olly Murs voiced his relief with the words: “Awww jeez Emma! Glad you’re ok!” While This Morning’s Cat Deeley conveyed hers by writing: “Sending love …. There are some truly wonderful-full people out there.”

TV icon Davina McCall also chimed in: “Oh Wow! ! ! @emmawillisofficial ! ! ! ! ! What a shocker ! ! ! Thinking of you all and sending you huge healing hugs.”

Emma Willis, mother to Isabelle, Ace, and Trixie with her hubby Matt, joins other celebs in candidly discussing health challenges.

Both Davina McCall, who recently had a non-malignant brain tumour removed, and ex-BBC Radio presenter Fearne Cotton, who underwent surgery for two tumours on her jaw, have faced their own medical concerns.
