Dani Dyer’s honest admission about dad after wild past cheating scandals

Published:

Danny Dyer recently opened up about his wild past and cheating on his now wife, Jo. The former EastEnders star revealed that his wife now has full control over their finances following his previous ways.

Although Jo and Danny are now one of showbiz’s strongest couples, things were very different 25 years ago and she booted him ot of their family home. But now, Danny, 47, admits that Jo was in the right to kick him out and give him a major wake up call. Danny has never shied away from his wild past.

Previously, he’d go out on drug and booze fuelled benders for days on end and wouldn’t return home. “I never wanted the party to end,” he said. Danny has also admitted to cheating on the mother of his three children, previously saying: “I thought the grass was greener – but the grass was horrible and I don’t ever want to go there again.”

Things became so bad for Jo that in 2017, she left the house with their three children, including Love Island winner Dani Dyer and her siblings, Sunnie 18, and Arty, 11 and prevented Danny from seeing their children. But what have his children said about his past ways and his cheating?

Dani, 28, has not commented publicly on her dad’s infidelities but has praised her father admitting since he became a grandad, he had completely changed. Dani welcomed her first child in 2021 with her ex-partner, Sammy Kimmence and has gone on to have a set of twins with Jarrod Bowen.

“My mum and dad are seven minutes from me,” Dani previously said. Speaking to Closer, she added: “I’m really lucky to have them round the corner.” She explained that Danny struggles to spend more than a day away from his grandchildren, admitting he’s “hands on”.

Dani went on to say: “He always wants to see the kids. If he’s not seen them for a few days, he’ll be ringing me saying, ‘Are you in? I want to come over’, or he’ll pick up Santi from nursery for me or come over and cook me dinner. He’s so supportive and so loving, he’s such an emotional man and since he’s become a grandad, he’s even more emotional.”

But that’s not the only thing that has made Danny emotional in recent years. The telly hardman recently gave his most honest interview to date as part of a new ITV special. Danny appeared on the new series, The Assembly, with questions being asked by a group of interviews who are autistic, neurodivergent or have special learning needs.

The series states that no question is too much and the participants must answer truthfully. When grilled by one young woman about Jo after she cleared out their joint bank account, Danny responded: “She controls everything now.” He added: “Yes she did kick me out because I was a p**k and she deserved better.

“Sometimes I would go out and get off my head, take drugs, and I wouldn’t come home for three days. I had issues – I never wanted the party to end. She had every right to throw me out.” Danny went on to discuss the impact his behaviour had on his children and how he has since bettered himself for them.

He commented: “I caused quite a lot of pain to my children, the stuff I was getting up to, just being vacant, not engaging, not being available. It’s not about money, you can live in a cardboard box. Children need stability and affection and to feel like they’re loved. That’s it, when you haven’t got that, it’s a really tough thing.”

Speaking about his marriage after he and Jo rekindled things, Danny told the Mirror that the past was very much in the past. He said: “Me and Jo are going to be together for ever. Abso-f******-lutely. Completely. We will probably renew our wedding vows. I want to see my Dani tie the knot first, whenever that will be.

“We’ve gone through a lot me and Jo. I take full responsibility for most of our ups-and-downs. Most of the downs, really. We’ve been together since we were 14 so we have spent our whole life together. We were parents at 18, we were still babies ourselves but then we were trying to parent from 18 onwards with Dani. So we have gone through a lot together.”

The Assembly airs Saturday and Sunday at 10pm on ITV1 and ITVX
