Sainsbury’s shoppers urged to make quick change to Nectar card in next 14 days

Published:

Sainsbury’s has advised its customers to take one simple step to ensure they don’t miss out on collecting points. The supermarket chain reassured shoppers who forget their loyalty cards that they can still accumulate Nectar points by providing proof of purchase for in-store items within a fortnight of buying the products.

Online shoppers can also retrospectively earn points by associating the transaction with their loyalty card within 14 days of purchasing the goods. The points should then be credited to the Nectar card within a month. This advice from Sainsbury’s came after a conversation between the grocer and a customer, Michael Reaney, on X on Tuesday afternoon (April 22).

Michael queried: “@sainsburys I’ve just purchased petrol from your West Hove petrol station and didn’t have my Nectar card on me. Is there any way to get the points on my card retrospectively? Got the receipt if that helps?”

In response, the supermarket advised: “Hi Michael, thanks for getting in touch. If you return to store with your card and receipt, my colleagues there will get that for you.”

Karen, a representative from the grocer, added: “You have 14 days to get the points added.”

This lesser-known tip from Sainsbury’s could benefit many people looking to increase their Nectar points, but are uncertain whether it’s possible to add the points after the purchase has been made, reports Birmingham Live.

The supermarket giant, Sainsbury’s, has stated that Nectar points can be used on a wide range of items, from the weekly shop to drinks at Café Nero.

The company’s website also enables customers to convert their shop points into British Airways vouchers.

Additionally, the Nectar card offers its members access to discounts and deals when presented at the checkout.
