Three lanes on the M62 were closed tonight after a collision involving multiple vehicles, causing significant delays for motorists. The incident occurred between Junction 11 at Birchwood and Junction 12, where it connects with the M60 at Eccles Interchange. National Highways has confirmed that the lanes have now reopened.

Specific details about the crash have not been disclosed yet. However, traffic monitoring site Inrix reported that all lanes are now operational, and the situation has been resolved. National Highways anticipates normal traffic conditions to resume between 8:30 pm and 8:45 pm tonight.

Live footage from a motorway camera indicates that traffic is now moving more smoothly. Despite one lane reopening, drivers should still expect some delays. National Highways has arranged for the recovery of all vehicles involved in the collision, with traffic officers present at the scene to assist with traffic control.

Even though three out of the four lanes have been reopened, one lane remains closed. The current situation has led to 90-minute delays on the motorway, according to National Highways. They project that traffic flow will return to normal around 7:30 pm, a critical time for commuters traveling to Manchester during rush hour.

National Highways has confirmed the presence of officers at the scene in Greater Manchester. The Manchester Evening News reported that three out of four lanes of the motorway were closed, causing significant delays for motorists.
