Keir Starmer has recently unveiled a TikTok profile by sharing a festive video featuring him and his wife strolling hand in hand in Downing Street.

In his debut post this morning, the Prime Minister, accompanied by his wife Victoria, is seen walking down a corridor towards the No10 door while cameras flash around them capturing the moment.

The video, reminiscent of scenes from “Love Actually,” transitions to the front of Downing Street where the Starmer couple stands outside the iconic black door during the Christmas tree lights switch-on event.

The massive tree’s lights were ceremoniously turned on by Samuel Salamone, a 14-year-old litter picker, who eagerly pressed a large red button to illuminate the tree.

In a direct message to social media users, Mr. Starmer encourages them to “follow me” on TikTok.

For his second post, Mr. Starmer shared a TikTok video embracing Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on the steps of Downing Street. The clip begins with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Mr. Zelensky walking towards the No10 entrance, captured by photographers.

With approximately 5,000 followers currently, Mr. Starmer’s decision to join TikTok aims to engage a broader audience, according to No10. TikTok boasts over 30 million regular users in the UK.

Among other government officials on TikTok are Energy Secretary Ed Miliband and Health Secretary Wes Streeting, who shared his first video in October.

Nigel Farage holds the distinction of having the most TikTok followers among MPs, with 1.4 million followers. In May, his follower count surpassed that of over 600 other MPs combined.

Mr. Starmer’s move signals the government’s increasing focus on digital communication strategies. Both the PM and Rachel Reeves have engaged with influencers and traditional reporters to address questions in recent times.

Mr. Starmer aligns himself with global leaders like US President Donald Trump, France’s Emmanuel Macron, and Australian Premier Anthony Albanese, who are also active on TikTok.

The PM’s official spokesperson emphasized the government’s commitment to reach diverse audiences through evolving communication methods. Security measures are in place to operate the Prime Minister’s TikTok account, similar to existing UK Government profiles on the platform.
