Bulgaria has been identified as the prime destination for an affordable summer vacation this year, recommended for families. TravelSupermarket’s latest data for 2026 peak booking season highlights Bulgaria as the most cost-effective country for all-inclusive sunshine holidays, averaging £760 per person for a week-long stay. Following closely are Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.

The analysis, based on family holiday searches conducted between October 5 of the previous year and last week, for trips scheduled between May and September 2026, revealed significant price variations among popular destinations. Bulgaria, in particular, has seen a 7% reduction in average price per person compared to the previous summer, making it one of the most budget-friendly options. Conversely, Cyprus stands out as the most expensive choice, averaging £1,186 per person.

Spain, a perennial favorite among British travelers, secured the fourth spot on this year’s list with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining prices from the previous year. Turkey ranked 11th at £1,057, while Greece followed closely in 12th place at £1,096. Croatia emerged as the 10th most affordable summer destination, costing an average of £1,046 per person, with prices dropping by 12% since the previous year.

For long-haul travelers seeking value, Cape Verde topped the list with an average cost of £1,247 per person, trailed by the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694, offering attractive vacation options.

Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, expressed optimism about Bulgaria’s resurgence as a top bargain destination, noting the continued affordability of Tunisia and Morocco. The price decrease in Croatia, especially significant after the country adopted the Euro in January 2023, provides families with renewed access to this beautiful destination.
