A student who survived a previous school shooting shared her shock after experiencing another deadly attack at Brown University.

The tragic incident at one of the prestigious Ivy League universities in the US resulted in two fatalities and nine injuries. The shooter opened fire in a classroom during pre-Christmas exams, prompting a massive manhunt involving over 400 police officers. A “person of interest” was eventually taken into custody.

Zoe Weissman, a survivor of the 2018 Parkland school shooting in Florida, expressed her deep frustration at being caught up in another campus tragedy. Reflecting on the earlier shooting where 17 lives were lost at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Zoe recounted how Nikolas Cruz, a former student, carried out the attack in 2018.

In response to the recent events at Brown University, Zoe expressed her anger and shock, feeling like she has been transported back to her teenage years. She described the moment when she learned about the shooting on campus and how she stayed in a classroom while updating her family on the unfolding situation.

Zoe highlighted the alarming trend of students experiencing multiple school shootings, emphasizing the urgent need for action on gun violence prevention. She criticized the US government for its perceived inaction on addressing the persistent issue of gun crime in the country.

Following the incident, a shelter in place order was in effect but was later lifted. The university issued a statement acknowledging the ongoing police activity in certain areas of the campus deemed active crime scenes.

The president of Brown University confirmed that the victims of the tragic attack were students at the institution.
