A tragic incident has shattered a family just before the holiday season as a mother fell from the tenth floor of a tower block in Madrid while holding her three-year-old twins. The 48-year-old mother died instantly, and her children were rushed to hospitals in critical condition. One twin is being treated at Madrid’s 12 de Octubre University Hospital, while the other is at Hospital Infantil Niño Jesús.
Medical teams are concerned about the more severely injured child’s survival prospects. No updates on their health have been provided so far. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning in Ciudad Lineal, a residential area near Madrid city center. The mother, identified only as Maria, had purchased gifts for her children shortly before the tragedy. They had gathered the day before to celebrate the twins’ birthday.
The city ambulance service confirmed the woman’s death and the children’s hospitalization. National police are investigating the incident, with local police and firefighters also involved. This tragedy follows a separate incident where a 25-year-old man died after falling from a block of flats.
An air ambulance was observed at the scene, and a police cordon restricted access to the area. Investigators were seen on the ninth floor of the building. The 25-year-old succumbed to his injuries the following evening, while a 37-year-old man detained for suspected assault remains in custody. West Yorkshire Police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
