A large portion of applications and services require a monthly subscription fee for their usage, and now it appears that WhatsApp might be following suit. Recent observations by the vigilant team at WABetaInfo suggest that the chat application, owned by Meta, is in the process of developing an enhancement called WhatsApp Plus.

The new version is expected to introduce exclusive upgrades and features, including the ability to pin more chats (increasing from the current limit of 3 to a more practical 20), enhanced customization options such as changing the app theme, icon, and accent colors.

Users may also gain access to additional perks like bonus stickers, more ringtones, and enhanced chat interactions with immersive reactions. WABetaInfo clarified, “WhatsApp is working on a new optional premium subscription plan named ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for the regular consumer app, offering extra features in exchange for a monthly fee. This plan is currently in development for both Android and iOS platforms and has not been officially released yet.”

In addition to the initial features, it is anticipated that Meta could introduce more add-ons in the future for those willing to pay. While WhatsApp has not officially verified these speculations, test versions of the Plus app have been identified by WABetaInfo, indicating ongoing development.

It is important to note that the existing free version will remain available, and users will not be compelled to subscribe. The premium option is designed to provide additional benefits to users who are willing to pay a monthly fee.

More details about WhatsApp Plus are expected to be disclosed in the near future. Stay tuned for updates.
