Donald Trump is forming a coalition of antagonists with the aim of undermining the United Nations, with assistance from Tony Blair.

Trump’s decision to establish this unconventional alliance can be linked to two key events. The first event dates back to 2009 when the Nobel committee honored Barack Obama with the peace prize, a move that Trump vehemently opposed. This fueled his desire to pursue his own Nobel recognition, leading him to involve himself in resolving conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

Initially focusing on promoting peace and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, the Board of Peace saw a shift in its objectives following a significant incident. During a speech at the United Nations General Assembly last September, technical glitches marred Trump’s delivery, prompting him to perceive a deliberate attempt to discredit him.

Subsequently, Trump expressed a desire to dismantle the United Nations and establish an alternative organization, potentially with himself at the helm. Today, he announced the Board of Peace’s lineup, its expanded global agenda, and his lifelong chairmanship role.

Tony Blair’s involvement in the initiative remains somewhat enigmatic. Known for his ties with Jared Kushner and his interest in mediating conflicts in the Middle East, Blair engaged in discussions concerning Gaza’s future even before Trump’s presidency.

Despite skepticism surrounding Trump’s ambitious plans to transform Gaza into a luxurious resort, Blair continues to support the endeavor. Despite the UK’s reluctance to join a group that included Russia, Blair remains actively engaged as a member of the executive board.

At a launch event in Davos, Trump unveiled the new organization’s logo, resembling the UN emblem but adorned with gold and depicting a skewed global perspective. Accompanied by various world leaders, Trump solidified his position as the group’s leader, with Viktor Orban of Hungary and Javier Milei of Argentina among the prominent figures present.

Notably, most of the countries involved in the initiative have been scrutinized for their limited political freedoms and civil liberties. While Israel agreed to participate, Benjamin Netanyahu’s absence at the ceremony, due to potential legal repercussions in Europe, underscored the complexities surrounding the alliance.

Trump’s aspiration to retain power indefinitely through his association with this coalition hints at a longing for prolonged authority akin to a “world king,” a notion that echoes a childhood aspiration harbored by Boris Johnson.

By establishing himself as the perpetual leader of this controversial assembly, Trump appears to be striving to secure a lasting legacy that transcends his presidential tenure.
