WhatsApp has released a significant update featuring four new enhancements, making it easier for users to manage their chat app experience. Among the upgrades are improved storage management and seamless chat history transfers between iOS and Android devices. These changes aim to streamline the process of switching devices for users.
The update is currently being rolled out by WhatsApp, and users can expect to receive it on their devices in the upcoming weeks.
In a statement, WhatsApp highlighted the importance of preserving memorable chats, photos, and videos shared among users. The new features are designed to enhance the user experience, whether for personal or professional use.
The four key features of the update include:
1. Simplified space clearing options: Users can now easily view and delete large files directly from chats to free up storage space without deleting entire conversations. By selecting “Manage Storage” under the chat name, users can selectively remove media files while retaining message history.
2. Effortless cross-platform chat transfers: The updated chat transfer tool now supports seamless migration of messages, photos, and videos from iOS to Android devices, in addition to transfers within the same platform.
3. Dual account support on iOS: Users can now simultaneously access two WhatsApp accounts on iOS devices, similar to the feature available on Android. This eliminates the need for separate devices to manage work and personal communications, with profile photos clearly indicating the active account.
4. Mood-based stickers: WhatsApp now suggests sticker options that correspond to the emojis being used, allowing users to easily swap emojis for stickers that match their mood with a single tap.
These features are gradually being rolled out and will soon be available to all users to enhance the simplicity and functionality of WhatsApp, according to the company.
