Apple has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the iPhone 17e, following the release of the iPhone 16e last year. Priced at £599, the iPhone 17e is significantly more affordable than its higher-tier counterparts, the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro, by over £200 and £500, respectively. This model comes with a standard 256GB storage capacity, double that of its predecessor.
Featuring the new A19 chip for enhanced performance, the iPhone 17e boasts faster speeds compared to the A18 processor in the 16e. It also includes the latest C1X cellular modem for up to twice the speed of the previous C1, enabling faster downloads and smoother streaming on the go.
The device sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with a durable Ceramic Shield glass for protection against daily wear and tear. Improved anti-reflective technology reduces glare, enhancing visibility in bright environments. MagSafe, a new addition to the 17e, enables faster wireless charging and supports compatible accessories like wallets and stands.
For photography enthusiasts, the iPhone 17e is equipped with a 48MP Fusion camera that offers advanced sensor technology for improved zoom capabilities and composition. It also supports 4K video recording with Dolby Vision at up to 60 frames per second.
Safety features are a key focus, with functions like Emergency SOS via satellite for messaging in areas without cellular coverage and Crash Detection for automatic emergency service contact in the event of a serious car accident.
Available in black, white, and a new soft pink finish, the iPhone 17e is designed to deliver exceptional value at a starting price of £599. Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, emphasized the device’s powerful performance, enhanced durability, and smarter camera system, making it an attractive choice for customers seeking to upgrade within the iPhone 17 family.
