A festive event turned tragic as a six-year-old girl met her untimely demise at the hands of her envious aunt during a wedding. The aunt’s motive was reportedly driven by her desire to be the most beautiful person present, resulting in the fatal incident.
Shockingly, the aunt later admitted to the authorities that she had previously taken the lives of three other children, which included her own son who allegedly drowned. Panipat’s Superintendent of Police, Bhupender Singh, described the accused as a possible psychopath, believing that no child in her family should outshine her in appearance.
The accused, identified as Poonam locally, is accused of drowning her young niece, Vidhi, in a tub of water during a family gathering in Panipat, northern India. Vidhi’s family was devastated when she went missing during the celebration, only to be tragically found lifeless in a nearby storeroom by her grandmother.
Reports indicate that Poonam confessed to the killings of four children, including her sister-in-law’s daughter and her own son. Another incident in a neighboring area also links her to the death of a young girl earlier this year due to jealousy.
Currently in custody, the woman awaits formal charges against her for the heinous acts. This disturbing event follows a recent tragic incident at a wedding reception where a groom collapsed and passed away while dancing with his bride, creating a somber atmosphere amidst what was meant to be a joyful occasion.
