Authorities discovered a body on a slip road following reports of a distressed man on an M4 footbridge.
South Wales Police swiftly responded to the incident near Junction 36 of the motorway just before 9:30 pm on Saturday. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the deceased body of a 24-year-old man on the adjacent slip road. Medical personnel from South Wales Ambulance Service also arrived at the scene and made efforts to revive the man, but unfortunately, he was declared deceased.
The individual was identified as a resident of Litchard, Bridgend. His family has verified his identity and is currently being supported by specialized officers, according to a report by Wales Online. Temporarily, the motorway was shut down in both directions to facilitate the emergency response.
A spokesperson from South Wales Police stated: “Officers were alerted to the situation at the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 right before 9:30 pm on Saturday, December 6, following a distress call. The body of the man was discovered on the nearby slip road when emergency services arrived.
“Efforts to resuscitate the individual by the ambulance were unsuccessful. The brief closure of the motorway in both directions was necessary for police and CSI involvement.
“The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old from Litchard, Bridgend. The family has been informed, confirmed the identification, and is being provided with support.”
