A mother in mourning shared her harrowing experience of witnessing her British toddler being fatally attacked by the family dog in a matter of seconds.

Two-year-old Leon Dulia tragically lost his life during a family outing on the Greek island of Zakynthos with his parents, Robbie Deeth, 32, and Loukas. The family, originally from Andover, Hampshire, had been living on the island for a few years and had just returned home from shopping when the incident occurred. Leon had gone outside to pet the dog while his parents were inside unpacking groceries.

Robbie, devastated by the event, described the attack as swift and attributed it to nearby hunters who startled the pitbull with gunfire and whistles. She fondly remembered Leon as an exceptionally sweet and loving child.

The mother explained that the dog had never shown aggression before and had always been gentle with Leon. She recounted how the tragedy unfolded within a brief moment while they were indoors attending to the shopping.

After the attack, Robbie and her husband immediately called for emergency assistance and rushed Leon to the island’s main hospital. Despite their efforts, Robbie feared the worst as they sought medical help for their son.

Addressing concerns raised by Greek media, the couple clarified that they had cooperated with the authorities but had not been charged with any offense. They emphasized that the pitbull, which they had rescued and rehabilitated, had displayed no signs of aggression prior to the incident.

The investigation into the tragic death of Leon continues, as the family grapples with the heartbreaking loss of their beloved child.
