BT has released a crucial update regarding landline services, signaling the upcoming switch from traditional copper cables to digital technology. The transition, set to occur by January 31, 2027, aims to improve connectivity as the outdated copper system struggles to meet modern demands.

The new Digital Voice system by BT offers enhanced features like stable connections, clearer audio, call forwarding, and improved call screening for protection against scams. While over three million UK households have already made the switch, many more are encouraged to follow suit before the deadline.

BT emphasizes the importance of acting promptly to avoid disruptions in phone and broadband services. Users are advised to ensure their devices are compatible with the digital network and may need to connect their home phones to broadband hubs. For those with special requirements, such as telecare devices, notifying the provider is essential to receive appropriate support.

Allison Kirkby, BT Group Chief Executive, highlights the significance of upgrading the digital infrastructure for improved connectivity across homes and businesses. BT’s substantial investment in infrastructure underscores its commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering growth in the UK.
