Conor McGregor has officially declared that he will not be participating in the upcoming UFC event scheduled to take place at the White House. Initially rumored to headline the fight against Michael Chandler on June 14 at President Donald Trump’s residence, McGregor is now anticipated to make his return to the octagon in July. UFC CEO Dana White is set to unveil the White House card on Saturday, but McGregor’s name is expected to be missing from the lineup, with plans for his comeback fight slated for July 11 instead.

In an interview with Smash Cast, McGregor expressed his initial enthusiasm for the White House event, stating that the administration had shown strong support for his presence. He acknowledged the potential showdown with Chandler as an exciting prospect, praising Chandler’s skills while highlighting his own readiness for the bout. However, McGregor revealed that the fight with Chandler was postponed, expressing understanding and readiness to face any opponent to make his long-awaited return to the cage.

McGregor also disclosed his intention to compete in the welterweight division for his upcoming fight, emphasizing his increased size and physicality. Despite awaiting a formal contract offer, McGregor remains optimistic about his return to the octagon and is hopeful for a favorable deal following discussions with his manager in Las Vegas.

With McGregor’s absence from the White House card, attention has shifted to Jon Jones as a potential headliner for the event, possibly facing former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205lb belt.
