Darts professional Dom Taylor has publicly apologized for being dishonest about his drug use and also opened up about the tragic loss of his daughter. Taylor, aged 27, shared a detailed statement on Facebook after being disqualified from the PDC World Championship recently.
Following a positive drug test result from December 14, the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) confirmed Taylor’s suspension from the tournament. Despite winning his first-round match against Oskar Lukasiak, Taylor’s prize money was withheld, and his second-round opponent, Jonny Clayton, advanced to the next round due to the suspension.
In his social media post, Taylor expressed regret for his behavior, especially considering a previous failed drug test in 2025 before the Ally Pally tournament. He admitted to deceiving himself and others in his post-match interview following the victory over Lukasiak.
Taylor revealed that he had completed the required program following his previous suspension, which had been reduced from a potential two-year ban to three months. He attributed his struggles partly to traumatic experiences during his teenage years, including personal losses and family tragedies.
Acknowledging his mistakes, Taylor apologized to his family, friends, sponsors, and fans for his actions. He mentioned seeking help for his mental health struggles after the holiday season and expressed remorse for letting down his loved ones, particularly his daughters and fans.
Despite the challenges he faced, Taylor affirmed his commitment to seeking assistance and returning to the sport stronger. He thanked his supporters for their understanding and assured them of his determination to overcome his difficulties.
