Police have discovered a body in a river during the search for a missing woman near a university. Jill Grint, aged 79, was last spotted close to her residence in Earlham, Norfolk, at approximately 10:30 am on Friday. She was dressed in a blue coat, navy trousers, navy trainers, and carrying what seemed to be a yellow bag.
Authorities recovered a female body from the River Yare in Cringleford, Norfolk this afternoon after the public reported seeing it in the water. Although formal identification is pending, Jill’s family has been notified of this development.
The police have stated that the incident does not appear to be suspicious, and they will be preparing a report for the coroner. Norfolk Constabulary confirmed, “The body of a woman was tragically found in the River Yare in Cringleford. The discovery was made today (6 December 2025) by members of the public. While formal identification is pending, the family of Jill Grint, aged 79, who was reported missing yesterday in Earlham, has been informed. The death is considered non-suspicious, and a report will be compiled for the coroner.”
Earlier on Friday, authorities expressed concerns for Jill’s safety and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
