A grieving father was left in shock after discovering his deceased son’s brain inside a washing machine due to a disturbing mistake made by a funeral home.

Following the death of Alexander Pinon on May 19, his family sought the services of the Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel in San Jose, California, for his funeral arrangements. The family’s legal representative, Samer Habbas, revealed that they requested a change of clothing for Alexander before his burial, and the clothes he wore at the time of his passing were returned to them.

In a distressing turn of events, the bag handed to Alexander’s father did not contain his son’s clothing but instead held brain matter. Upon emptying the bag into the washing machine, the father was met with a horrifying sight as brain pieces spilled out.

Unaware of the contents initially, the family later realized the gruesome error and had to deal with the unimaginable task of removing the brain matter from the machine. They promptly returned it to the funeral home, where a staff member, Anita Singh, received the bag without providing any details or apologies.

Despite Alexander being laid to rest the next day, it was weeks later that an anonymous employee of the funeral home disclosed that the brain belonged to him. Allegations surfaced that the brain had been mishandled, left in a box outdoors for months, and only discovered after emitting a foul odor.

Samer Habbas criticized the funeral home’s actions, emphasizing the need for transparency in such situations. He expressed concern for the lasting trauma experienced by Alexander’s parents, highlighting the profound impact this incident will have on their lives.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel regarding the incident have been unsuccessful.
