Tyson Fury has spoken out following the recent car accident involving his longtime rival Anthony Joshua in Nigeria. Joshua, aged 36, was hospitalized with ‘minor’ injuries after the crash that tragically claimed the lives of two of his close friends. Witnesses at the scene assisted those involved, with Joshua visibly in discomfort as he was helped from the wreckage.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s long-standing promoter, confirmed that Joshua was safe and on his way to the hospital but could not provide further details. The incident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu, Ogun State, leading to an outpouring of tributes for the victims.

Sina Ghami and Kevin Ayodele lost their lives in the crash involving Joshua’s black Lexus Jeep colliding with a stationary red commercial Sinotruck. Fury expressed his sorrow on Instagram, sharing a post honoring the deceased. The Federal Road Safety Corps released a statement detailing the tragic event and the swift response to the crash.

Despite initial reports of minor injuries, concerns have been raised about the extent of Joshua’s injuries, with speculations of potential rib and knee damage. The emotional toll of losing his friends may also impact Joshua’s future in boxing, as mourners pay respects outside the gym owned by Ghami, who was a pivotal figure in Joshua’s career.

The uncertainty looms over Joshua’s return to the ring, especially after hinting at a significant fight in 2026. The potential matchup between Joshua and Fury has been a topic of discussion, with both fighters exchanging words in the past. Joshua’s determination to continue in the sport faces challenges amidst the tragic loss and physical repercussions of the accident.
