Gail’s bakery chain has announced that ten of its locations will be open for business on Christmas Day. Additionally, customers visiting these bakeries on December 25 will receive complimentary mince pies. All Gail’s bakeries will maintain regular operating hours on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

A recent Instagram post by Gail’s stated, “If you’re out and about on Christmas Day, a few of our bakeries will be open. A place for a coffee, a loaf, or a familiar face on a quiet morning. And if you stop by, we’ll be giving away a mince pie on us – a small gesture of thanks to anyone spending part of the day with us (while supplies last). People celebrate Christmas in different ways, and some not at all. Every year, our teams choose what’s best for them.”

In other news, Gail’s has disclosed plans to launch 40 new stores in England, including expansions beyond London. The company has opened 36 cafes in the previous financial year, with the next 40 expected to be operational by the end of February 2026. Despite a 20% increase in sales, Gail’s reported pre-tax losses of £7.8 million, attributing the rise to business expenses and staffing costs from new store openings.

With over 4,000 employees as of February, Gail’s has expanded its workforce following a recruitment campaign. The company’s wholesale division supplies baked goods to various supermarkets, such as Waitrose and Ocado. Gail’s sourdough loaf prices start at approximately £4.80, with the retail sector being highlighted as the group’s fastest-growing and most profitable segment.

A spokesperson emphasized, “We are pleased with our strong year-on-year growth, driven by the growing demand for high-quality, nutrient-dense food and community support. We remain committed to providing innovative world-class food in appealing neighborhood bakeries to sustain our growth momentum.”

Gail’s reiterated its dedication to progress and enhancing access to quality food, stating, “We will continue to build on this momentum by growing with purpose and remaining committed to improving access to good food.”
