In Minneapolis, a recent incident involving a shooting by an ICE agent has caused further distress, with authorities attempting to shift blame onto Joe Biden swiftly. The episode unfolded when a man was shot in the leg by an ICE agent in the northern part of the city, following the tragic killing of Renee Good just days prior. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that the man tried to evade a targeted traffic stop, resulting in a chase where he crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. According to official accounts, the ICE agent resorted to shooting the man in the leg, citing self-defense after being attacked by two individuals wielding a snow shovel and a broom handle.

Amidst the unfolding events, the DHS, overseen by Trump ally Kristi Noem, took the opportunity to criticize the former President while he continues to undergo cancer treatment, diverting attention from the turmoil in the city. The DHS statement, released post-incident, drew attention to the involvement of an individual released into the country by Joe Biden in 2022, adding a political dimension to the narrative.

Criticism was also directed towards Democrat Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey by the Trump administration, following the involvement of federal agents in the recent shootings in Minneapolis. The DHS statement further condemned the leaders for allegedly encouraging resistance against ICE and federal law enforcement officers, labeling their actions as obstructive and inciting violence.

The rhetoric escalated as US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche labeled the governor and mayor’s leadership as “terrorism,” focusing blame on them rather than the actions of ICE agents. In response, Mayor Frey condemned ICE for sowing chaos in Minnesota, expressing public dissatisfaction with the increased presence of ICE agents in the city.

The tragic death of Renee Good sparked massive protests, with tensions escalating following the recent shooting incident involving federal agents. The use of force against protesters and attempts to shift blame onto Joe Biden underscore the ongoing politicization of the tragic events in Minneapolis by the Trump administration, perpetuating unrest and public anguish in the city.
