IMPOSE TOI secured his first Grade 1 victory at Ascot in the Howden Long Walk Hurdle, solidifying his position as a top stayer. Trained by Nicky Henderson, the seven-year-old triumphed over Strong Leader in the Grade Two Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury last month before outdoing his rival by a length and a quarter under jockey Nico de Boinville at Ascot.
Despite facing Strong Leader on less favorable terms, Impose Toi showcased significant improvement. Honesty Policy, another contender carrying the colors of JP McManus, finished third, just a neck behind the winner.
Following the win, Ladbrokes shortened Impose Toi’s odds to 5-1 for the Stayers’ Hurdle at the upcoming Cheltenham Festival in March. Henderson expressed satisfaction with the performance, praising the horse’s flawless execution and progression.
McManus, looking forward to the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, noted his long-standing desire to claim victory in the prestigious race. With Fact To File set to compete, the seasoned owner remains optimistic about his chances of securing a maiden win in the event.
As the festive season kicks off, McManus’s aspirations for success in the upcoming races add excitement to the racing calendar.
