Johnny Depp has undergone a dramatic transformation for his latest Hollywood role, leaving him almost unrecognisable.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is set to star in an upcoming film called Day Drinker, and Lionsgate recently gave fans a sneak peek at his character on social media. In the shared image, Depp is seen leaning against a bar, clad in a navy blue suit and pale blue shirt, with a glass of scotch in hand. However, it’s his new look that has caught everyone’s attention.
Depp now sports long grey hair and a matching bushy beard, complete with a moustache. His usually hazel eyes appear to be a bright blue, likely due to contact lenses, and he looks notably tanned. Completing the new look is a simple gold ring can also be seen on his little finger.
Lionsgate posted an image of Johnny on Facebook with the caption: “The first look at #DayDrinkerMovie. Starring Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz, Madelyn Cline, Manu Rios, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto and Anika Boyle – coming soon.”
Fans were quick to praise Depp’s new look in the comments section. One fan gushed that he “looks so good with grey hair”, while another exclaimed: “WTF YOU LOOK SO GOOD,” Another admirer compared the actor’s ageing process to “This man age is like fine wine.”
One surprised fan admitted: “Did not realise that was Johnny Depp till I read the caption,” while others welcomed him back to Hollywood, reports the Daily Star.
Depp’s role in Day Drinker marks his return to the big screen after several years of personal and legal troubles played out in the public eye. The synopsis for the hotly anticipated movie teases: “A cruise ship bartender meets a mysterious day drinker, only for them to be unexpectedly tangled in a criminal underbelly.”
Word got out in October 2024 that the project had entered the pipeline, and there’s been buzz around Sydney Sweeney being linked to the cast, although Lionsgate’s official blurb stopped short of confirming her involvement.
For years Johnny was brutally trolled over his rotting yellow teeth, he previously discussed his poor dental hygiene telling Premiere, he said: “I’ve got loads of cavities. I had a root canal done eight years ago that’s unfinished. It’s like a rotten little stub. But I like it. It’s like when the Indians would make something beaded, they would always put imperfections on it.” Johnny went on to admit he was “proud” of his teeth and their imperfections.
But, the legendary actor recently transformed his image and has proudly been showing off his all-new pearly whites while visiting a Bahamian bar. Taking to Instagram, a bartender shared a clip of Johnny with his fresh new look which appeared to have gone down well with Johnny’s fans.
Johnny made no hesitations about flashing his smile as he got stuck in behind the bar making a series of cocktails at Hightide Cafe at Blackpoint, Exuma, Bahamas. One fan commented: “Am I right too see that his teeth are locking brighter than ever before???” Meanwhile, a second added: “Finally he did something about it.”
