Celebrity Big Brother fans have been left feeling ‘uncomfortable’ after realising just how big the age gap is between housemates Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa. The unlikely pair have struck up an incredibly close bond since entering the iconic house last week, and it appears that their connection is only growing stronger as other housemates – including Ella Rae Wise – have insisted that they have isolated themselves from the rest of the group.
As their connection grows stronger, viewers have become increasingly confused about the nature of their relationship – with some suggesting that it appears to be more romantic than friendly – despite the fact that JoJo has a girlfriend back in LA.
Over the past couple of days, it seems that Chris, 32, and JoJo, 21, haven’t been able to keep their hands off one another as they are continuously touching, massaging, tickling, hugging, and kissing one another.
This has made some viewers question JoJo’s loyalty to her girlfriend Kath Ebbs, who she has been seeing since November. And now, one eagle-eyed fan on X has pointed out the significance of the age gap between Chris and JoJo – which is 11 years.
When Chris first shot to fame in 2017 on Love Island, when was 24-years-old. At the same time, JoJo was in the height of her Nickelodeon career, and while Chris was making moves in the famous villa, JoJo was only 13-years-old.
The post has received mixed reaction, with some insisting that Chris and JoJo are simply friends and that their flirty banter is simply platonic. “They are just friends! Both are adults and can be friends with whoever they want. Although I am sick of seeing them now. The others should get air time too,” one wrote under the post.
Another echoed: “She’s 21 and he’s 32 for starters. Who cares how old you are at the peak of fame they’ve met at these ages and they are only friends.” Someone else argued: “Yeah you can be friends but you don’t need to be on top of one another the entire time and literally all over one another. It’s weird and not normal.”
JoJo and Chris struck up a close friendship ever since entering the house, with some fans speculating it could be more. On Monday night, the Dance Moms star, 21, was seen writing a secret message on Chris’ hand – and the pair will have to face the consequences of their rule break on tonight’s instalment of the ITV show.
Throughout their time in the house, JoJo and Chris have been seen cuddling in bed with Chris stroking JoJo’s back. During Monday night’s episode, JoJo was seen sleeping on the floor next to Chris as she wrote a message on his hand. Many speculated that she wrote “I love you,” whereas others thought she was telling Chris that Ella liked him.
Nonetheless, writing notes and sending secret messages is against Big Brother’s rule, and tonight’s episode will see the pair punished. The pair will only be able to speak through megaphones until further notice, meaning the house will hear everything they have to say.
Elsewhere in last night’s episode, the housemates were seen nominating for a second time. The second live eviction will take place tonight and will see Patsy Palmer, Jack P Shepherd and Trisha Goddard go head to head.
