Danny Dearden’s cause of death confirmed after X Factor star’s health battle

Published:

X Factor star Danny Dearden’s cause of death has been confirmed. The singer found huge success after his time on the show, but it’s been announced that he was suffering from secret health issues behind the scenes before he tragically died aged just 34.

Danny’s manager Denise Beighton was the one to break the news, writing: “Heartbroken to wake up to the news that you’re gone. I have no words right now, rest easy beautiful boy.”

Beighton didn’t offer any further details about the cause of Danny’s death, but a new statement has confirmed that it was caused after a long health battle.

“We are heartbroken to announce the sad loss of our dear friend and artist Danny Dearden, who passed away peacefully this morning after a long illness,” a representative of the musician wrote.

They added: “Danny was one of the most talented, hardworking people we have worked with and has made a big mark on the industry amassing more than 30 Million Streams and collaborating with huge dance names such as Michael Calfan and Dario G. RIP Danny.”

Prior to his death, Danny touched on the fact that he’d been struggling with his health over the course of a couple of years. His last ever social media post showed him in hospital, as he snapped a photo of a hot chocolate while resting surrounded by medical equipment.

In October 2024 the musician again hinted at health issues as he snapped a selfie with a peace sign, and jokingly wrote: “Another day another… well I’d say dive but it takes me 5 minutes to get down the steps into the pool these days haha.”

Before that, in December 2023, he revealed that the NHS had saved his life during a period of low health, but didn’t explain what his illness was.

In an Instagram post at the time, Danny shared: “This year has been a bit of a rocky one, at one point I was told I probably wouldn’t be here today…well I am.” He also spoke on social media last year saying he had not been in the “best of health recently.”

Danny was only 23 when he entered the X Factor, and reached the Judge’s House stage in 2014 under the mentorship of Mel B, who was immediately taken by his voice.

Mel B has now shared a moving tribute to honour Danny on Instagram, writing: “Tragic news hearing Danny Dearden has passed.

“I remember him back in his X Factor days and how talented you always were but also how kind to everyone. Sending love to anyone who knew Danny.”
