Demi Moore, Ed Sheeran and Serena Williams lead 2025 TIME100 most influential list

Published:

This year’s TIME100 has just been released, indexing who Time Magazine deems are the most influential people in the world right now. The magazine has clustered the famous faces into six categories – artists, icons, leaders, titans, pioneers, and innovators – and there’s quite a mixed bag of controversial figures among the names.

Among the hundred, there are a few people that will broker little argument, including beloved Suffolk-born Ed Sheeran, Hollywood icon Demi Moore, and tennis legend Serena Williams.

Serena, 43, has definitely earned her title as a ‘titan’ over the years, ranked as the greatest female tennis player in history. The sportswoman – who looks gorgeous with caramel curls and a fitted blazer in her official portrait – is also the highest-earning female athlete of all time.

Alongside snagging plenty of Wimbledon titles, the mum of two showed off a different side to herself at the biggest event of the year so far – Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show. Going back to her Compton roots, Serena crip walked on the major stage as she showed off her impressive dance moves and snubbed rumours of a former fling with Kendrick’s rival Drake.

Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Ed, 31, seems to have made a huge comeback over the past few months. Alongside being one of the highest selling artists of all time, he’s also made a name for himself in the football world after getting shares in his beloved Ipswich Town FC.

What’s been most surprising about Ed recently is his ability to be everywhere at once – busking in cities, singing on the street in foreign countries, and making surprise visits to schools to inspire young musicians. He’s also become a bit of a meme on social media, appearing in TikToks with fans and sharing hilarious comebacks to comments about him.

Demi Moore proudly takes another spot on the TIME 100 list, after finally having the career breakthrough she deserves following decades in the film industry. The actress was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her work in The Substance at the Oscars, just weeks after winning a Golden Globe – her first ever award despite decades in Hollywood.

During her emotional speech while holding her award, Demi, 62, explained how she’d been sidelined in the past, admitting: “Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress and at that time, I made that mean that awards weren’t something that I was allowed to have, that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged.”

While Serena, Ed, and Demi will likely have little argument over their inclusion as some of the big 100 people of the year, others might be less popular.

At the end of 2024, the magazine sparked fury as it made Donald Trump its person of the year for the second time, following his previous accolade in 2016.

He’s now alongside Keir Starmer in the TIME100’s ‘leaders’ category, joined by his divisive VP JD Vance, his conspiracy theorist Secretary of Health RFK Jr., and his buddy Elon Musk – who remains the richest man in the world.
