The daughter of two Oscar-winning actors celebrated her 22nd birthday on the weekend. She was met with well wishes on social media over the occasion, with her famous parents among those who reached out to mark the event.
Carys Douglas, 22, is the youngest child of Catherine Zeta-Jones, 55, and her husband Michael Douglas, 80, who have been married since 2000. The couple are also parents to their son Dylan Douglas, 24, together and Michael has an older son, Cameron Douglas, 46, from his first marriage.
Catherine and Michael have given insights into their lives over the years, with their children doing the same through social media. Carys, who’s been described as Catherine’s ‘lookalike’ daughter at times, was the subject of tributes from her parents on Instagram for her birthday yesterday.
Carys’ parents – who first met more than two decades ago – shared their pride over the youngest of their two children in respective posts on the platform. The couple’s posts later prompted responses from Carys in the comment sections.
Michael – who is known for his roles in films like Wall Street (1987) and Fatal Attraction (1987) – shared a photo of Carys alongside his tribute. He also suggested that Carys, who was said to have been studying Film and International Relations at Brown University in the US, had graduated recently.
He wrote: “Happy Birthday my darling daughter Carys! Congratulations on graduation! I am proud of you [Carys]! Dad.” The post prompted reaction from his daughter, who took to the comments section to respond to him. Carys wrote in her reply: “Thank you Dadda I love you so much.”
Whilst Catherine – who’s starred in films like Chicago (2002) since rising to fame on ITV‘s the Darling Buds of May in the early 1990s – shared two posts to mark the occasion. One of them was uploaded to her Instagram Story yesterday.
It featured a throwback photo of her cradling Carys when she was younger. Alongside the photo, Wednesday cast member Catherine wrote in the accompanying caption: “22 years ago my Easter Bunny arrived. Happy Birthday Carys.”
She also paid tribute to Carys in a post on her grid, which included a few photos of her daughter. Catherine wrote: “Happy Birthday to my darling daughter Carys. 22 today!!! You are the joy of my life. I love you to Neptune and back.”
Catherine ended the post by writing: “May this year bring you everything you dream of. Mama.” Carys replied in the comments section and expressed her love back. She wrote in a response to the post: “Thank you mamma I love you.”
Fans shared well wishes in the comments section too. One person said: “Happy birthday Carys.” Another wrote on the platform over the weekend: “Best wishes [Carys].”
