International captain Geoff Ogilvy has selected Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario, and Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia, to join the team. This marks the first time since 1998 that the International team will have two Japanese players, with Hideki Matsuyama securing one of the automatic spots.
On the U.S. side, Jackson Koivun, who recently departed Auburn, has been added to the Presidents Cup team. Koivun, a standout who won the 3M Open early in his professional career and swiftly qualified for the PGA Tour postseason, is a remarkable addition. He becomes the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to compete in the Presidents Cup after starting the year without a tour card.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker has also chosen Jacob Bridgeman, the victor at Riviera this year, for the team. Notably, Snedeker opted for Bridgeman over Ryan Gerard, the world’s 22nd-ranked player who performed well at the Tour Championship.
The upcoming Presidents Cup, scheduled for September 24-27 at Medinah, has received significant attention as the course has been completely renovated by Ogilvy’s golf course design company based in Australia.
