An Irish man was discovered deceased at his residence in Costa Blanca, while his wife was promptly taken to the hospital. The local police were alerted by a concerned neighbor and responded to the couple’s home yesterday morning. Initially, it was erroneously reported that the individuals were of English nationality and that the woman had passed away shortly after authorities arrived.

The Civil Guard in Alicante clarified today that the couple was, in fact, Irish, and confirmed that the deceased man’s wife was alive and receiving medical care, with her life not at risk. The couple was found in their home on a street named Avenida Escorpiones, which translates to Scorpions Avenue, situated in the municipality of Torrevieja to the south of Alicante. The man is believed to have been deceased for some time, while his wife was described as having undisclosed “limitations.”

Despite initial indications of the Irish man sustaining “brain injuries,” law enforcement stated that no signs of violence were discovered at the scene. A spokesperson for the Civil Guard stated, “The Alicante Civil Guard confirms that yesterday, December 3, at approximately 11 a.m., the death of a 72-year-old man was reported at his residence in Orihuela Costa, where his wife, a 73-year-old woman requiring daily assistance, was present.”

Following a technical investigation by the Pilar de la Horadada Judicial Police Team, it was determined that there was no foul play involved, and medical professionals confirmed the natural passing of the man. Both individuals were devoid of any signs of violence, and the woman was transported to Torrevieja Hospital for medical attention, where she is stable. The couple’s nationality was later corrected to Irish after initial misinformation.

In a separate incident in February, two British pensioners were found deceased in a Costa Blanca residence near San Fulgencio. The bodies of the man and woman were discovered on February 13, a short distance from the recent tragic event. Local social services staff raised concerns after failed attempts to reach the individuals, leading to the discovery of the bodies inside the property. The couple was known to have chronic health conditions and had been classified as “vulnerable” by social services.
