A man was brutally killed by a group of villagers who mutilated his body and dragged it through the streets following accusations of raping a disabled woman. The incident occurred in Gowa, Indonesia, on November 30. The victim, identified as Ali, attempted to hide at a relative’s house and later fled into the nearby forest to escape the angry mob. However, he was captured on December 3 when he emerged in search of food.
Witnesses identified Ali, known for previous criminal activities in the area, and proceeded to attack him using various weapons. Shocking footage captured the violent assault on Ali, who was tied up, as the mob paraded his lifeless body through the village. Reports indicate that the attackers mutilated his body before displaying it publicly, while onlookers cheered.
Senior Adjunct Commissioner Muhammad Aldy Sulaeman, Chief of Gowa Police, stated that law enforcement intervened to control the situation in Rappolemba Village. He mentioned that investigations are ongoing to establish the sequence of events surrounding the incident, emphasizing the need for thorough examination. Residents also claimed that Ali had a history of burglary and had recently been released from prison.
Enal, a resident of the village, revealed that locals had been searching for Ali after the alleged assault on the disabled woman. Ali initially sought refuge with relatives before moving to the forest area where he was eventually apprehended. The police have mobilized various units to manage the situation and collaborate with regional law enforcement agencies.
