Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg have been accused of assault following an incident where Winnipeg Sea Bears player Teddy Allen suffered serious injuries earlier this month, as per authorities.
The Canadian Elite Basketball League team had reported that Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at a downtown nightclub in the early hours of August 3. Police disclosed that three security employees, aged 35, 37, and 58, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have been released on undertakings.
While the nightclub was not identified by the police, it was situated on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Teddy Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is presently recuperating at home, according to a statement provided by the team.
Expressing his thoughts, Allen stated that the assault was unwarranted and should not have occurred to him or anyone else. He added, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
