Eleven years have passed since the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, and efforts to locate the missing Boeing 777 plane are set to resume. The aircraft vanished with 239 people on board shortly after departing from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. In a renewed attempt to unravel the mystery, US robotic company Ocean Infinity will soon initiate a seabed search for the wreckage. Families of the lost passengers have expressed support for this new search, scheduled to commence on December 30 and span 55 days. Previous search endeavors were halted in April, with Malaysia’s Transport Minister explaining the timing wasn’t suitable.

Numerous theories have emerged over the years regarding the fate of the flight, ranging from cyber-hacking to an onboard fire. Aviation expert David Learmount has highlighted the importance of focusing on the Hardy Triangle area for investigative purposes. According to Boeing 777 captain Simon Hardy, the flight’s captain, Zaharie Shah, intentionally diverted the aircraft off course, concealing it from radar detection and ultimately causing it to crash into the ocean.

Differing perspectives exist on the circumstances surrounding the aircraft’s disappearance. While some believe a hacker could have interfered with the flight’s systems, others argue that a physical presence onboard would have been necessary to execute such a plan. Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott suggested that senior Malaysian officials suspected the pilot had orchestrated a deliberate crash into the Indian Ocean as a mass murder-suicide.

Various hypotheses, including scenarios involving a fire caused by lithium-ion batteries, hijacking, or deliberate pilot actions, continue to circulate. The search for MH370 has led to various claims and discoveries, from alleged sightings on Google Maps to fishermen recovering plane debris. Despite these speculations, the truth behind the mysterious disappearance remains unresolved, leaving many questions unanswered.
