The F1 season has kicked off with George Russell securing a win in Melbourne. Fans can look forward to an enhanced viewing experience throughout 2026 as the calendar takes the teams around the globe. Sky has announced a significant TV upgrade, introducing new features to enrich the way viewers watch live sports.

Scheduled for release soon, the update will bring forth an interactive experience for viewers. Sky will introduce a smart sidebar during race weekends, offering tools like Race Control and Recap for quick replays of exciting moments. Additionally, viewers can easily access live in-race standings.

In addition to increased interactivity during races, the update will present dedicated driver and team pages. This will grant fans access to onboard cameras, enriched race data, explainers, and improved navigation on the homepage.

To access the new features, Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices will receive them for free. Although an exact launch date has not been confirmed, the rollout is expected later in the season at no extra cost for existing Sky Sports subscribers.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can catch every practice, qualifier, and race live with Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering a discounted deal that saves £336. This bundle includes access to around 100 TV channels, along with complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.

Sky, in an email to Express.co.uk, mentioned, “New for 2026, fans can look forward to even more flexibility and choice with a new immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends.” Apart from the F1 upgrade, Sky has unveiled a new Ultimate TV subscription plan, combining major streaming services at a reduced monthly rate.

Priced at £24 per month, the package will provide customers with access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app in the UK. Sky emphasizes the value of the bundle, bringing together approximately £20 worth of streaming services in one package.

Included in the £24 Ultimate TV plan are Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads, HBO Max Basic with Ads, Hayu, and over 130 Sky channels.
