Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. The pricing is significantly lower than purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving over £100.
The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month plus a £15 upfront fee. It offers full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, Paul Sweeney, emphasized that these plans aim to make high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. Sky’s previous offerings mainly revolved around Protect Smart Home Insurance, but these new standalone services expand the availability of Sky Smart Home products.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
