The family of a teenager who was found deceased one week after she was reported missing has expressed their deep sorrow. Authorities have confirmed that Camila Mendoza Olmos, 19, took her own life in San Antonio, Texas, and her body was discovered in a field close to her family residence following her disappearance.

In a public statement released for the first time, a spokesperson for the Olmos family expressed gratitude to the various agencies and communities involved in the search efforts for Camila. The family requested respect for their privacy and asked for prayers for Camila’s mother, Rosario, and her brother, Carlos, during this challenging period.

Camila was last seen leaving her home on Caspian Spring Road in San Antonio on the morning of December 24. Surveillance footage indicated that she was searching her car before leaving on foot, carrying only her car keys and possibly her driver’s license. Concern for her safety led to a widespread search, culminating in the discovery of her body in a field on New Year’s Eve.

Sheriff Javier Salazar mentioned that Camila seemed to be going through emotional distress based on the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. The police released dashcam footage showing Camila walking along a path, matching her last known attire of a sky blue and black hooded jumper, pale blue pajama bottoms, and white shoes.

Following her disappearance, multiple agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, collaborated with local law enforcement in Texas to locate Camila. In light of this tragic event, support services such as The Samaritans are available for anyone in need of assistance.

For those who require help, The Samaritans can be contacted at 116 123 or via email at jo@samaritans.org. Additionally, individuals can visit their website to find the nearest branch for support. Your well-being is important.
