A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition at Liverpool Hospital after being involved in a car crash during a police pursuit. The incident occurred in Sydney’s south-west around 11 pm on Wednesday, December 10. The female driver, also 21, and another woman in the car were hospitalized in serious conditions.

New South Wales Police reported that they spotted a Ford Ranger allegedly speeding through a red light while on patrol. A pursuit was initiated after the driver failed to stop, but it was quickly terminated due to safety concerns.

According to a spokesperson for the police, a critical incident investigation has been launched following the crash. The pursuit resumed shortly after being terminated, resulting in the Ford Ranger colliding with a BMW sedan and a Toyota Yaris hatchback at an intersection.

The 21-year-old woman in the sedan was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the sedan and another passenger were also hospitalized in serious condition. The alleged driver of the stolen Ford Ranger, a 17-year-old male, is being checked at Fairfield Hospital and is expected to be taken into custody upon release.

An independent critical incident team has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation will undergo an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or visit https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information provided will be kept confidential, and reporting via NSW Police social media platforms is discouraged.
