Ben Stokes recently suffered a severe black eye, breaking a fundamental rule of cricket coaching. The England cricket player shared a photo on Instagram showing his bruised eye, scratches on his face, and a bandaged nose. Despite the injuries, Stokes humorously commented, “You should see the state of the cricket ball.”

The incident occurred while Stokes was coaching young players at Durham’s indoor facility. During a practice session, batsman Robbie Bowman inadvertently struck a ball towards Stokes, causing the injury. Stokes was promptly taken to the hospital, where he reassured Bowman and acknowledged his mistake of turning his back on the batter.

Stokes, who is recovering from a groin injury, aims to return to action for Durham before England’s upcoming Test match against Australia. His commitment to playing county championship matches demonstrates his determination to regain fitness. Stokes, a seasoned Test player, is expected to continue contributing to English cricket for years to come and may transition into coaching post-retirement.
