Cambodia issues stern warning to Thailand amidst renewed conflict, prompting mass civilian exodus. Hun Sen, Cambodia’s senate President, vows fierce resistance against Thailand in the wake of escalated hostilities. The clashes reignited after a skirmish on Sunday left two Thai soldiers injured, shattering a ceasefire that had temporarily halted disputes over territorial claims in July.

In a fiery declaration, Mr. Sen emphasized Cambodia’s compelled retaliation following what the Cambodian regime deemed a “reprehensible act” by Thailand. Despite preferring peace, Cambodia resorted to defensive combat to protect its land, as stated in an announcement on Facebook and Telegram.

The recent five-day clashes have resulted in numerous casualties on both sides and the evacuation of over 100,000 civilians. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul indicated a lack of communication from Cambodia regarding potential talks, signaling a continuation of hostilities. Stressing the necessity to uphold sovereignty and public safety, he affirmed support for planned military operations.

Amid accusations of artillery and drone attacks, both nations blame each other for initiating violence. Thailand reported civilian and military casualties, with airstrikes conducted along the border in response. Evacuation efforts are underway, with temporary shelters accommodating thousands of displaced individuals in Thailand and Cambodia.

Allegations of misconduct swirl, with Cambodia accusing Thai forces of targeting a temple and Thailand claiming rocket attacks from Cambodian forces. The conflict remains unresolved as tensions persist between the neighboring countries.
