Keir Starmer faced questions regarding Donald Trump’s offensive “piggy” remark towards a female reporter on Air Force One last month. During an appearance on ITV’s program Loose Women, the Prime Minister expressed his disapproval of the language used by the US President. Starmer emphasized that he would not tolerate such disrespectful behavior towards his daughter or colleagues.

Trump had directed the derogatory term at Bloomberg’s Catherine Lucey when she inquired about his connection to Jeffrey Epstein in November. Loose Women’s Myleene Klass asked Starmer about his stance on such language and whether he would allow someone to address his family or colleagues in a similar manner.

In response, Starmer firmly stated that he would not permit such behavior. He indicated his readiness to denounce such actions and highlighted the importance of educating teenagers about behaviors that may seem harmless but are actually problematic.

Starmer’s appearance coincided with the government’s launch of a significant strategy to combat violence against women and girls. When questioned about misogyny in Westminster, Starmer acknowledged its presence not only in politics but across society, emphasizing the widespread nature of the issue.

Home Office minister Jess Phillips, who introduced the strategy, affirmed the government’s commitment to tackling the problem with full force. She outlined various measures, including measures to restrict access to harmful content and misogynistic influences online, such as banning “nudification” tools and implementing nudity detection filters to protect children from inappropriate images.
