Lindsey Vonn has shared a heartfelt update, revealing her discharge from the hospital after a serious leg injury suffered during the Winter Olympics. The renowned skier was airlifted to a medical facility in Italy while competing in the downhill event after sustaining an ACL injury.

Following multiple surgeries, Vonn was initially released from the Italian hospital to return to the United States for further medical care. In an emotional Instagram post, she disclosed the extent of her injuries, including compartment syndrome and a fractured ankle, highlighting how her surgeon’s intervention prevented the need for amputation.

Describing her complex tibia fracture and the complications of compartment syndrome, Vonn expressed gratitude to Dr. Tom Hackett for saving her leg through a fasciotomy procedure. She emphasized the role of her previous ACL tear in facilitating the timely intervention that preserved her limb.

Despite a longer-than-expected hospital stay due to low hemoglobin levels and subsequent blood transfusion, Vonn is now out of the hospital but remains wheelchair-bound due to her ankle fracture. She outlined her upcoming rehabilitation journey, aiming to progress from a wheelchair to crutches in the coming weeks, with potential future surgeries for ACL repair and metal removal.

Vonn concluded her update with optimism for her recovery, acknowledging the challenging road ahead but expressing gratitude for the support received. She emphasized the importance of rehabilitation and highlighted the anticipated timeline for her healing process.
