Tragically, on April 4, 2024, Hannah disappeared, leaving behind concerning messages to her mother before her burnt-out vehicle, containing her remains, was discovered in remote bushland.
Subsequent investigations and a trial revealed Young’s culpability in Hannah’s death. Despite initially denying involvement and suggesting suicide, Young ultimately pleaded guilty to manslaughter, admitting to a violent altercation with Hannah that resulted in her tragic demise. Subsequent evidence and testimonies exposed Young’s malicious intentions and actions leading up to the heinous crime.
Following a conviction for Hannah’s murder, Young was sentenced to 28 years in prison, with parole eligibility after 22 years. The court highlighted the egregious nature of the crime, condemning Young’s abuse of power and violence against a vulnerable victim.
